Hola! I’m Lara Mitchell Guirao
Madrid-based photographer, writer, and journalist dedicated to telling real stories through words and images.
I recently graduated from Saint Louis University – Madrid Campus with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, where I grew a passion for media production, journalism, and visual storytelling. My work lives at the intersection of observation and expression — from capturing dancers in motion to documenting moments of human resilience.
As a staff writer and photographer for SLU-Madrid’s student newspaper, I reported on travel, local culture, campus life, and breaking news. One of my most impactful pieces was published in the Madrid Metropolitan, where I wrote about the national blackout (apagón) that left Spain in the dark.
Alongside my documentary and editorial work, I’ve worked professionally as a photographer for Start Studios, a creative studio in Madrid. My visual work has been recognized in juried exhibitions, including the communications department photojournalism exhibition at Saint Louis University Madrid “El Madrileño Way”, and I was honored as the Top Communication Student of my graduating class.
As a dancer myself, movement is at the heart of my visual storytelling. I aim to freeze energy and emotion in time — whether through a portrait, a performance, or the pulse of street life. With every project, my goal is to connect, inform, and inspire.
